Yue tells us about herself with a simple Q&A
Q1 Who is Yue?
I am Yue Zeng. A former chemist who graduated from SUNY-ESF at Syracuse, NY as Master of Science (Environmental Chemistry) in 2012. After that I moved to Berkeley, CA; to Virginia 2013; to Atlanta, GA in 2014 and to Woodbury, MN in 2020. In 2017 after my physical downtime, I decided to become a full time artist and work at full power since then.
Q2 Where do you get your inspiration?
My inspirations come from nature and everyday life. The sky, ocean, forests, animals, wildlife and delicious food. I especially love light and shadow. No matter what subjects are, my eyes are always caught by the boundary of light and shadow, including moon light or city light.
Q3 Did you have any training?
I don't have official academy training on art. But as a Master of Science, I learned what I need to know along the way. Every artist out there is my teacher. Every piece of beautiful artwork has something I can study.
Q4 How would you describe your art?
I would like to describe my art somewhere realism and surrealism, with a little impressionism maybe. I want to paint fantasy/imaginary creatures/scenes as real as possible.
Q5 What artists inspire you?
There are a lot of artists that I admire. From all old masters to nowaday artists, I've lost count. Generally speaking, every piece of artwork that I like may come from any artist around the world and throughout history, sometimes I don't even know their names, sometimes I may only like parcial of their works. But that parcial piece is enough to inspire me to paint more.
Q6 What does Sentiment mean to you?
This is very interesting and exciting to me. It feels like something that I've always wanted to do but never have the chance and courage to actually put to action. It feels like memories from the past refreshed in front of my eyes. And this time, I know I can do it.
